I am a communications and development specialist with 15 years of experience leading public information and awareness campaigns for clients in the government, academic and not-for-profit sectors. From 2000-2009 I was an owner/partner in Ottawa's largest marketing and communications agency, gordongroup marketing + communications, where I spearheaded the company's focus on education and citizen engagement (working with the Government of Canada and the University of Ottawa).
I retired from the agency last year, to more fully realize my commitment to social development. I am primarily interested in contributing to areas where democracy and education intersect (civic literacy, equal right to education, equitable dissemination of knowledge/research).
I am working with Open Medicine, an open-access, peer-reviewed general medical journal. The mission of Open Medicine is to facilitate the equitable, global dissemination of high-quality health research through open access publishing; to promote international dialogue and collaboration on health issues; to improve clinical practice; and to expand and deepen the understanding of health and health care.
