Dr Samuel Ayedime Kafewo is a Professor in the Department of Theatre and Performing Arts, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria Nigeria. He is an active member of the famous Zaria Popular Theatre/Theatre for Development movement which is at fulcrum of the Theatre Studies programme of the University. He has published extensively in local and international journals among which are the Nigerian Theatre Journal, New Theatre Quarterly (NTQ) University of Cambridge UK, Network 2000 USA, Canadian Journal of Comparative Literature, SAFARA and URED based in the University Of Gason Berger Senegal and Reproductive Rights Matters (RHM) Journal. He first published play The Generals Award came up in 1999, He has since followed up with the collection Splitting Images and Other NUTAF Plays from the Well which is an experiment in collective play writing/creating with students. He contributed four playlets to the volume on Instances: A Day in the Life of a Woman. He has numerous plays aired on Radio and broadcast on television and is currently working on a highly successful comedy "The Police" for television. His areas of research interest include among others Popular/Theatre for Development, Creative writing, representation of women in the media-Film and television, Theatre history and dramatic theory and criticism.
