I am a journalist based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. I work with a community news magazine called ‘Citizen Matters’, a fortnightly print and e-news magazine. I chose journalism initially due to my interest in public speaking and writing. It was only after I graduated with a Post Graduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism that I realized there was more to it!
As a student, I freelanced with various magazines and also interned with media organizations. As a part of my college course, I was also involved in making three documentary films – ‘Business, Paise, Oomph’ on the BPO sector in Bangalore, ‘Paradise Lost’ on a village outside Bangalore, and ‘Behind Bars’ on the illegal trading of exotic birds in Bangalore.
Apart from journalism, my interests also lie in music. I love to sing and it’s my dream to sing for a movie at least once in my life! I also enjoy reading fiction, my favourite book till date being a novel based on a true story – ‘Not Without my Daughter’ by Betty Mahmoody and William Hoffer. I also enjoy the occasional indulgence in adventure sports.
