I have done Communciation work for two years with the Meghalaya Rural Development Society. The Society runs a project called the "Meghalaya Livelihoods Improvement Project for the Himalayas" which is jointly funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the Govt. of Meghalaya and the Govt. of India. The main aim of this project is to improve the livelihoods of 29300 vulnerable households in the state of Meghalaya.
My primary interest is to involve the community in identifying communication tools and developing content that would make them more aware of their Rights and improve their access to information that affects their livelihoods like market information, low cost tecnologies etc.
As an organisation we have developed radio programmes, advocacy videos, newsletters, flyers etc but we would like this process to be more participatory. Also we are always on the lookout for other organisations and networks that are involved in development communcation initiatives so as to make keep ourselves more informed and to strengthen our delivery system.
