I officially became physician (1992) and endocrinologit (1996: Dijon Medical School, France). Since then, most of my professional attention is targeted at promoting and protecting health. By capitalizing on this momentum, the values that shape my commitment are: individual freedoms, citizens'responsibility, social justice, and collective solidarity. What else? In matter of health status, there is still considerable room for improvement. Although not sufficient on its own, advocacy for equity in health is nothing else than a duty, as can be mobilization for more person-centred health services. Additionally, dealing with the threats and challenges facing the world must be a shared, global, and nonpartisan agenda. Going ahead with this demand, it has to be said, requires commitment from leaders, from institutions, and, not least, from ourselves. In summary, when asked, "what about health?", I invariably answer: "Health is nothing else than... wealth".
