Dr. Yasemin Koc is the British Council's Advisor for Science Innovation and Science Communication. Before joining the Council she studied chemistry at the Institute of Technology in Vienna for her MSc and carried out research in nanotechnology at Imperial College, London, for her PhD.
Followed by working as a Business Analyst at JP Morgan in London.
Her work involves providing expert advice in the fields of innovation systems, knowledge transfer and science communication; providing inputs to the Council’s strategic programme areas and helping developing regional projects and initiatives. An important part of her role is to develop and build relationships with external partners and stakeholders in order to deliver these projects
At present she is developing a portfolio of activities in science communication, including a series of café scientifiques linking different countries around the world, hosting seminars and debates on science and society, in collaboration with the Royal Institution and the Royal Society, and at conferences in Europe (ESOF 2010 in Turin).
