My area of expertise is in the development of local and national media institutions, from community radio to national public service broadcasters. This involves strengthening the overall capacity of media institutions for sustainability and effectiveness including legal structures, board of directors, management, programming, audience research, technical facilities, and training of media personnel.
My motivation for this work is the passion I have for the right of citizens of developing democracies to have access to balanced, unbiased, and independent sources of information to empower them to make informed choices about their lives and to participate in nation-building.
I have 23 years of experience working in the development of media and the use of media for development in disenfranchised communities, with 9 years in post-conflict countries. My first career was as a science and math teacher and I bring my teaching skills and love of learning to my training and capacity building activities.
