Simon has just joined the new Centre for Arts Management and Cultural Policy at the University of Manchester where he teaches on the MA programmes in Arts Management and is helping develop the Centre's other activities. He also teaches in the Department of Drama at the university. He previously worked on a variety of theatre projects around Europe and taught at the University of Klagenfurt in Austria before returning to London to work for the medical research charity, the Wellcome Trust, where he led on a range of arts initiatives to promote young people's engagement with science. He also worked on the development of a new international programme by the Trust to support creative methods in community engagement with health research which has stimulated projects in Africa, India and South America. His research examines the arts as public engagement, with a particular focus on intercultural and interdisciplinary practices and work in community and educational contexts.
