My career objective is to obtain a research/ analysis position in a public health organization where I can contribute my disciplinary knowledge, language and cultural skills. My professional experience primarily includes work in the maternal and child health and nutrition field. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with underserved populations both nationally as well as internationally, which has helped to broaden my understanding relating to maternal and child health issues. Most importantly, such experience has highlighted the large variety of challenges faced by populations of different regions and cultural backgrounds. Through my university training, I have also acquired a good background in researching public health issues, including the conduct of literature reviews, synthesizing of articles, and communication of results through papers, seminars and public presentations. Such research skills have helped me better understand the scope of our modern society’s most pressing public health issues, as well as the latest theories and technologies used in combatting the myriad challenges that field faces today. I believe my personal and language skills are also appropriate for this position. I have the reputation of being very organized, perfectionist and meticulous. I value professionalism and I am proud of being known for my diligence at meeting deadlines. I am often complimented for my writing skills, which I can apply to English, Spanish, and French. I much enjoy social interaction and, having grown up in Latin America and Africa, plus having traveled extensively in Europe and some of Asia, I have been exposed to a variety of people, cultures and organizations. This wide exposure to international situations helps me understand other people’s behaviors and expectations and gives me facility in communicating with people here or abroad, whether on a personal or professional plane.
