The Health and Climate Foundation was established to support social and economic development by helping to reduce the burden of climate sensitive diseases worldwide. Currently we have programs focused on building national capcity to combat these diseases in several African countries. We are also part of a major effort called MERIT (Meningitis Environmental Risk Information Technologies), which aims to help eradicate this disease from Sub-Saharan Africa through a combination of vaccinations, early detection of disease outbreaks, and education.
We are very interested in building partnerships and being part of mutally supportive partnerships across all disciplines that impact human health and well-being. At present we work closely with colleagues within the WHO and other UN bodies, local non governmental organizations and national governments. We are helping to set up communities of practice to share expertise across the environmental and public health sectors.
