Sept. – Oct. 08: Consultant – WHO Montenegro (tbc) Participation in the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Joint Self-Assessment mission (7 – 10 July) led by WHO EURO, and preparation of a revised UN Pandemic Preparedness Plan for Montenegro. May – Sept. 08: Consultant – CEE/CIS Regional Office, Geneva Coordinate preparation of a DIPECHO proposal by UNICEF Central Asia offices (US$1.2M), contribute to a South-east Europe emergency preparedness training for 5 country offices, prepare a strategy paper for assistance to IDPs from disputed autonomous territories (e.g. Abkhazia and South Ossetia) and review the UNICEF EPRP for Montenegro. Feb. – April 08: Consultant – Emergency Adviser, Dushanbe Guide and assist UNICEF-Tajikistan to respond to the compound winter emergency, including Flash Appeal follow-up (for US$2M), leadership of the WASH and Education clusters, a significant contribution to the Health cluster and a coherent response in MCH. May 07: Consultant – Pandemic Influenza Contingency Plan Review and up-date of the pandemic influenza contingency plan of the Asia Foundation’s Hanoi Office, including the devising of triggers and action checklists, the development of a communication strategy and recommendations for procurement. Feb. – April 07: Consultant – Internal Review of OCHA’s Field Offices With another senior former staff member, conduct a review of the functions, capacity and structure of OCHA field offices, involving stakeholder interviews (in NY, GVA and the field), internal focus group discussions and field visits (Thailand, OPT, DRC, Kenya and Ethiopia). Nov. 06 – Feb. 07: Consultant – Avian Influenza Programme Coordinator Management of and reporting on an accelerated information and communication programme for the prevention of avian influenza, implemented within the context of a joint UN (UNICEF / FAO / WHO / UNDP) and Government action plan, with the support of key donors. August 2006: Consultant – Emergency Planning: Hanoi Review the 2004 UNICEF-Vietnam Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) and prepare an up-dated version of it taking into account a revised format, recent staff training and the outcomes of a workshop with government counterparts on UNICEF in emergencies. April 2006: Facilitator / Trainer: Hanoi Design and implementation of an intensive 5 day orientation of UNICEF-Vietnam staff on Emergency Preparedness and Response, applying and adapting to the country situation existing UNICEF training materials on the subject.
