R. Shashi Kumar is a Reader in the Department of Economics, Bangalore University, India. He has made contributions to international monetary economics and agricultural economics by planning, design and development on the national and international levels. He also contributed several research papers in academic journals, conferences, workshops and seminars. Besides being member of Board of Studies, Board of Examiners and Ph.D. committees for many universities in India, he served as consultant to the World Bank in finalizing the World Development Report, 2008, for IMF in evaluation of it’s works, and task force member of FAO in it’s attempt of reorienting agricultural research to meet the Millennium Development Goals. He has been serving as member of Editorial Boards and referee for many national and international professional journals. He has chosen for the special 25th Silver Anniversary Edition of MARQUIS Who’sWho in the World, awarded by USA, ‘Outstanding Intellectual of the 21st Century’ award given by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, England and ‘Leading Educator of the World – 2008’ awarded by International Biographical Centre, Great Britain, were other international awards received during 2008. He is having academic acquaintances with universities and research institutes around the world. Shashi Kumar has written on growth, trade, development, institutions, energy, the World Trade Organization, and intellectual property. At present, he is engaged in research on economic integration, fragility and civil society.
