I have extensive academic background in two main areas: communication and development. I used to work as researcher on Communication Theories in Uruguay (my home country) and also as Communication Consultant for several governmental, nongovernmental non-profit organizations. At the moment, I finished my MA on International Development at York University (Toronto), and I also have a previous MA degree in Communication Studies from the University of Leeds (United Kingdom). I have experience as social development practitioner, and also worked as News Editor, Producer and Journalist. Due to these complementary fields of study and expertise, I develop some capacities that you may consider beneficial: - Excellent interpersonal communication competence, attention to details, positive attitude, leadership skills and sensitiveness for others requirements due to my teaching practice. - Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment. - Adaptability to live in different countries and locations and work in cross-cultural environment, as well as flexibility and resourcefulness. - A strong understanding of International, Sustainable & Cooperative Development, Political Participation, Citizenship Constructions, Empowerment, Social Networking and Social Capital. - Experience on areas such as media relations, information managing, social work, social integration, human development through education and community mobilisation and organization. I look for experience in the area of community improvement and social development, where I could apply my communication skills and strong social commitments facilitating community empowerment.
