I'm a passionate, community-minded public health professional with eight years of relevant experience in HIV and STI prevention, care and treatment (particularly with youth and members of key populations), technical writing and editing, research support, communications tools (including social media and data visualization), advocacy, and stakeholder engagement. As an Associate Technical Officer with the Research Utilization (RU) Department at FHI 360, I implement my skills and experience to support development of technical resources (to support knowledge management; programmatic implementation, monitoring, and scale-up; and stakeholder engagement) to facilitate the uptake of evidence for practice.
Others might say that an inquisitive mind, enthusiasm, candor and communication skills are some of my most effective tools. I have leveraged these skills in my work, within sensitive technical areas such as HIV prevention, care, and treatment, particularly within vulnerable populations, and sexual and reproductive health; as well as in highly nuanced areas such as integrated development and research utilization.
I understand a systems approach and thorough communication are essential tools to solving the complex issues encompassed in global health. As a solution-oriented, big picture thinker, I am passionate about making a positive contribution to improving the human condition. Working in this field has taught me that optimism easily falls by the wayside, which has provoked my commitment to remain optimistic in the potential of my contributions and to project a positive outlook both personally and professionally.
