David Mureithi Karia
My academic background is in Bachelor of Education & Counselling and an ongoing MBA in Strategic Management. I am a certified Project Management professional with vast knowledge and skills in the project management, fundraising, advocacy, capacity building, strategy development, development communication. I have work experience spanning over 10 years in the humanitarian industry in Kenya in a management capacity.
Presently, consulting for a USAID funded project as a Community-Government Relations Advisor. During my consulting assignment I have been able to work with diverse stakeholders inclusive of private sector, public sector, foreign missions/embassies, the academia and policy development agencies for purposes of fundraising.
My background in Education and Counselling undergraduate degree gives me an edge through a better understanding of child protection, SGBV (Sexual and Gender Based Violence) and psychosocial support critical for this position. I am extensively trained as a trainer of trainer on Child Protection as well as conversant with the Do No Harm protocols.
I have demonstrated capacity in providing technical support for consortiums and networks. My biggest success in this output registered was in the program design and proposal development for the adolescents and youth sexual and reproductive health rights- Get Up Speak Out programme.
In 2016, I was honoured to serve as an Advisor in the Young African Leadership Initiative to mentor a cohort of young professionals on community development and public management. I am a member of two professional bodies Kenya Institute of Management and Kenya Association of Project Managers.
I possess excellent report writing, proposal/concept paper development and best practice documentation. As a result of being self- trained on C4D, I am well versed in designing and producing promotional materials as well as social media platform utilization for social enterprises.
