Aguirre Alvis José Luis
I am a Bolivian social communicator, I got my graduate studies in social communication at the Universidad Católica Boliviana "San Pablo" (U.C.B) and my Master Degree at Iowa Sate University (ISU), USA, with a degree in communication for development. I have worked in project related to the use of radio as an educative and participatory instrument been Director for three year of Radio San Miguel, the only radio in the Bolivian Amazon, border with Brasil that offers contents of education and information for the diverse communities scater mainly in the river communities along the Amazon jungle in the North of Bolivia. I was a National Director of Indigenous Communiation at the Bolivian government between 1993 - 1996. After this I was invited to go back as a fully worker at the Universidad Católica Boliviana "San Pablo", the first university that offered social communication since 1967. I have received the Direction of a Department called SECRAD (Training Service in Radio and Televison for Development), and I am in charge of this institution within U.C.B. since 1996 until now. SECRAD and myself we are members of The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC) and currently I am rpresenting the region of Latinamerica as the Regional President of WACC-AL, the central role of WACC in the globe is to work the right to communicate for all, besides I have received the responsability of been the Vice President of WACC globally. Besides the Direction of SECRAD, in which the deals practices of interacction from the university towards the need of communication and information from the whole country (we do train, audiovisual production, planning and research, act in national policies for communication and also we are the only center in Bolivia specialized in inclusive communication, communication rights for people with desabilities, wwww.sobretodopersonas.org). My personal interest in the field of communication for social change and communication for development are related to my field of personal practice in which I am workin at least for the last thirty years and also been the Professor of the subject of Theories of Communication and Development at the Departmetn of Social Communication at the U.C.B. I do teach, reserach, planning and promote the right to communicate and my fields of experience are intercultural communication, commumuty radio and inclusive communication.
