IMA World Health is a non-profit, faith-based organization that that offers extensive expertise implementing programs to address integrated health systems strengthening, maternal and child health, neglected tropical diseases, malaria, HIV, non-communicable diseases, and sexual and gender based violence programs in some of the most challenging and post-conflict settings throughout Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. IMA maintains a diverse and complex funding portfolio made up of both grants and contracts that support program services across those countries and totals approximately $100 million annually.

IMA World Health is seeking applications for Behavior Change Communication Specialist for the upcoming USAID Rwanda Health Service Delivery Activity (RSDA) project. The objective of RSDA is to improve utilization and quality of reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) services and malaria care, through strengthening of the public and private healthcare sectors. The Behavior Change Communication Specialist will be responsible for providing technical leadership on BCC for a high-quality, results-oriented program focused on addressing MNCH Interventions.


  • Work in collaboration with stakeholders to develop community radio, drama, or other communication strategies to make information and critical discourse about MNCH to the public and target audience;
  • Design and implement behavior change communication strategy, from design, provision of training and technical assistance to support behavior change intervention;
  • Contribute to the development of annual workplans, M&E Plan, and program progress reports; and
  • Contribute to the development of external project communications materials, such as success stories and social media content.

The position requires a competent and experienced person with the following attributes:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field such as communication, journalism, public relations, public health;
  • Demonstrated experience in behavior change communication strategy, from design, provision of training and technical assistance, to monitoring and evaluation;
  • Demonstrated experience in public awareness and community-based dialogue, mobilization, and campaigns addressing MNCH;
  • At least seven years of experience in management of international development assistance programs, preferably MNCH & BCC programs; 
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Experience writing and crafting content for social media, blog posts, and other synthesis products;
  • Demonstrated experience in creative and strategic thinking;
  • Demonstrated organizational and relationship building skills;
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience;
  • Strong English language skills, especially good oral and written communication skills;
  • Familiarity with USAID policies and procedures or those of other donors. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (including in making presentations); high degree of political savvy in interacting with senior government and civil society stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
