Alcohol and HIV Picture Codes Flip Chart
Produced by C-Change/Namibia as part of the "Stand Up" Alcohol and HIV campaign, this picture codes flip chart is designed for field workers and volunteers to create conversations for behaviour change that focus on the drivers of the HIV epidemic. Contents of the flip chart can form part of a comprehensive HIV behaviour change curriculum or be used as a stand-alone material.
The picture codes flip chart consists of a series of pages with a photo on the front and text on the back. A facilitator shows the photo to small groups or individuals and uses the text on the back to ask open-ended questions and generate discussion. For instance, each photo could begin with the following question: "What do you see in this photo?" At the end of each series of questions are a set of "Talking Points" which the facilitator can use to sum up the main points of each discussion. According to C-Change, the flip chart can be used in community, workplace, and clinical settings with both urban and rural audiences.

The link between alcohol and HIV does not get enough attention. Like the Pact Botswana original version of this picture code, it puts the spot light on real people in real situation and is sure to stimulate discussion and reflection, the first step to inspiring changes.
