Samantha Bolton is a Geneva and London based Communication and Advocacy Consultant working for a variety of public and private sector clients. With over 18 years experience running high profile communication and advocacy campaigns on health, development and environment issues, recent projects include: planning and running communication and advocacy campaigns and launches around the world, including the ban on cluster bombs; the launch of new malaria medicines and vaccines in Africa and Latin America and running a start up in satellite TV company in Sierra Leone.
Specific expertise in launches and campaigns for public private partnerships:
- Analyzing complex issues, framing debate, and rolling out communication and advocacy strategies
- Representing organizations and advocating for policy change within government and multilaterals
- Building support and mobilizing diverse coalitions around key public health and humanitarian issues
- Building local and global media relations, training in media crisis management
Before working as a consultant and setting up Incite | Insight, Samantha was responsible for the World Health Organization’s communication strategy for HIV/AIDS and the launch of the high profile “3 by 5” treatment program. Prior to this, as the worldwide Director of Press and Campaigns for Médecins Sans Frontieres/ Doctors Without Borders (MSF), she coordinated the launch of the high profile Access to Essential Medicines Campaign to lower the price of ARV’s around the world. As MSF spokesperson for ten years, Samantha worked with field teams under fire and media on deadline to mobilize public opinion against the genocide in Rwanda, famine in Sudan, ethnic cleansing in Burundi and Kosovo and the diversion of humanitarian aid in North Korea. Samantha began her career as a journalist for BBC World Service Radio and Reuters Television. She speaks fluent French and Italian and holds a Masters in Public Administration from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
