Pact exists to help create a world where those who are poor and marginalized exercise their voice, build their own solutions, and take ownership of their future. The Community REACH project is a three-year USAID funded project which contributes to realizing this purpose by improve Swaziland’s response to the HIV prevention and impact mitigation needs of vulnerable priority populations through:
Scaling up integrated evidence-based HIV prevention and OVC services for vulnerable adolescents, and
Strengthening the institutional, operational and advocacy capacity of CSOs to effectively contribute to an HIV/AIDS free generation.
Position Purpose
The REACH project is hiring a temporary Monitoring, Reporting & Learning Assistant who will provide support to the monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems by ensure Pact and its implementing partners (sub recipients) provide accurate data supportive of program and donor reporting requirements. The MERL Assistant will be responsible for the formatting and aligning of historic data into a new structure importable into the REACH information system/software. This will include organizing FY2016 data into the templates developed by database developers, ensuring consistencies in location names, issuing unique IDs to clients for case management, and formatting dates to database readable format.
Key Responsibilities
Pact historic data clean up
Conduct data clean-up for excel FY2016 OVC service tracking sheets for all partners including ensuring typo in clients’ names and surnames are cleaned.
Ensuring all FY2016 HIV Prevention data is accurately organized by club, youth facilitator, sessions including dates and times ready for data dumping
Ensuring adolescents unique ID and household numbers are linked to each child as per enrollment assessment records
Ensure that each adolescent is linked to an active home visitor (according to the allocation in the integrated online database)
Ensure names of home visitors are cleaned for typo
Ensure that location names are cleaned for typo as well as coded according to the location codes in the integrated online data management system
Formatting the dates to align with the integrated online data management system
Arranging the data in line with the template for dumping the data in integrated online data management system
Online data management system data clean-up
Work with M&E and programs teams to determine data quality issues in the online data management system and work out a plan for clean-up
Identify misplaced records (by locations) and editing to ensure correct placement
Clean-up duplicate records by harmonizing the client records into appropriate platforms
Standardize the coding system for all coded data including individual client’s unique IDs, location IDs.
Data entry and online data verification standard operating procedures
Develop data entry standard operating procedure including data quality spot-checks and electronic data verification procedures for field workers and M&E team use
Provide mentoring to partners on data entry and verification procedures including new system for unique IDs to ensure standardization during data entry.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a Social Science
A minimum of two-years working experience involved with managing data
Proficiency in MS Excel, Access and/or other relational databases
Experience in overseeing large data management and processes including data coding and entry
Experience in developing systems for data quality improvement and quality control
Availability to work six hours a day for at least a period of one month
Advanced proficiency levels in spoken and written English language
