Michael has solid experience in each stage of the Communication for Change (C-Change ) process; and can confidently lead and support others in the areas of: situation analysis/research, strategy and design, materials development and production, implementation and management, evaluation, re-planning, organisational change and capacity development.
CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT - capacity development and training expertise has included international training delivery, curriculum development, and the development of training resources.
STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT - experienced in the development of Social and Behaviour Change communication strategies (social and behavior change communication, advocacy, social/community mobilization) for organisations and projects. Michael is also experienced in capacity building with NGO personnel about the importance of strategic thinking and the process for developing, implementing and tracking effective strategies.
MONITORING AND EVALUATION - experience in leading the design and implementation of monitoring and evaluation activity as an integral part of communication for change projects; promoting an understanding of the need to understand both the theoretical and practical justifications for the application of different evaluation approaches and methodologies in order to make informed decisions
about monitoring and evaluation.
PROJECT DESIGN - experienced in the design of communication for change projects and programmes; and has a special focus on the development of low-cost, low-technology community media, print and electronic media. He is experienced in the development of communication project proposals detailing goals, outcomes, activities and implementation plans.
MANAGEMENT - experienced in implementing a broad range of both short and long-term communication for change projects and initiatives around the East Africa Region; these have included inter-personal, print and electronic-focused projects as well as ICT-focused projects, utilizing the new information communication technologies for development communication. Projects successfully implemented have also included considerable research-based projects, entailing coordination of multiple stakeholders, partners, allies and gate-keepers. Experience in guiding and facilitating organisational change, specifically within communication for change.
