Facilitated by Olayide Akanni from Nigeria, this session will explore the successes and challenges of working with the media on HIV/AIDS and give recommendations for effective advocacy for programming needs of marginalised populations. Also, successful case studies on working with the media to promote accountability and good governance in the context of HIV/AIDS will be shared. Participants will learn skills on how to make their work newsworthy, develop press releases, prepare for interviews, and take practical steps on how to better partner with the media to keep their issues "in the news". Finally, the session will focus on how to use media and social networking tools to further advocacy campaign agendas.
