Facilitated by Tisha Wheeler, R.R. Jannu, Akhila Sivadas, Gaurav Nidhi, H.L. Mohan, Madhu Naduvinamani, Tanveer Aziz Sait, S. Sundararaman, and Devata Ravi Kallappa - all whom are from India - this workshop will include discussion on how to mobilise high-risk community members to tackle violence, undertake advocacy with police, transform the media, and change attitudes of government leaders through technology and collective power. Approaches are based on the experience of Avahan, a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation funded project, working in 83 districts in 6 states in India. Government leaders from India, Avahan implementing partners, and community members will share their experiences through a multimedia approach involving a high degree of audience participation.
