Resumen

The Macquarie University Centre for International Communication (MUCIC) offers degree programmes for those in the fields of media, public affairs, and international relations.

Programmes

1. Master of Arts in International Communication - Students seeking this MA will be instructed in the principal research methodologies used in the field of international communication, including ethnographic research, case studies, content analysis, Delphi method, discourse analysis, documentary research, focus groups, in-depth interviews, projective technique, semiotics studies, and survey method. Further, students will be exposed to international communication research projects through examination of published research studies and unpublished dissertations. They will write critiques of selected research projects, or, where they wish to be considered for subsequent studies at doctoral level, a supervised project (thesis). Students study analytical and critical skills through discussions of conceptual frameworks and theories used in conducting research in international communication; analysis of different research designs and their methodological logic; and presentation skills. These two units comprise 2 of the required 8 units in the degree, and are included as a pathway to higher degree research.
   
   Students completing the MA in International Communication at the appropriate level of distinction may be admitted to a PhD programme in International Communication.
   
   
2. PhD in International Communication -

   For those whose fields of research correspond to the research of the MUCIC faculty, the PhD is a further postgraduate degree choice. The general themes for the research at MUCIC are:
