Horizon International invites entries for its Magic Porthole's First Environment Achievement Contest to be held in honour of the International Year of the Reef (IYOR) 2008. People of all ages and from every corner of the world, who are working on an environmental project, are invited to participate. Types of project may be, for example, education, energy reduction to help reduce global climate change, pollution prevention, waste clean-up, or community organising. Prize winners will be chosen for best efforts and the impact of their actions.


There are three categories based on age. The first prize is a trip to a coral reef on board Research Vessel Tiburon. Other prizes include tuition at Sanibel Sea School, art work by Sasha Meret, family passes to Birch Aquarium at Scripps, books from the Wild Dolphin Foundation, decks of two versions of the First Collectors' Edition Magic Porthole Coral Reef Playing Cards and Magic Porthole Ecoknowledge card game, and other prizes.


The deadline for application is October 31 2008.
