Stop TB Partnership/Lilly MDR-TB Partnership Journalism Award

Región

Global

Fecha límite

Abril 30, 2009

This award from the Stop TB Partnership and the Lilly MDR-TB Partnership will recognise outstanding reporting and commentary in print and on the web that increases the public's knowledge and understanding of tuberculosis (TB) and multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB), in countries affected by the disease.

There are two categories of awards:
Category 1: articles published by journalists located in a low- or middle-income country.
Category 2: articles published by journalists located in a high-income country. (Based on World Bank Country Classification criteria.)

The winning articles must be published between March 1 2008 and March 31 2009 in a general circulation newspaper, magazine, or web news vehicle. The first place awards will be US$3,000, second place US$2,000, and third place US$1,000. The articles may be co-authored, and the author(s) must reside in the country where the article is published. An independent jury of experts will make the selections. The Stop TB Partnership will administer all aspects of the award.

General requirements: Each submission should include a completed entry form [MS Word format]; a letter explaining how the work contributes to public awareness of TB; a statement of when and where the work appeared; and an electronic version of the article. Applicants may nominate themselves.

Languages: Entries may be submitted in Arabic, English, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish. An English-language version, if available, would be helpful but is not a requirement.

No Multiple Entries: A journalist may make only one entry to the contest each year.

Reprint Rights: Reprint rights are granted to the Stop TB Partnership and the Lilly MDR-TB Partnership for use in any vehicle and in translation into any language of their choosing by virtue of entry in this contest.

The deadline for application is April 30 2009.
