The European Commission (EC) is launching the Drawing Competition on Gender Equality on International Women's Day 2009. This is the third year that the EC is calling on children aged 8 - 10 in developing countries to express their vision of gender equality. The jury will be composed of children from the 27 European Union member states, and the exhibition will be inaugurated during the autumn of 2009. Two drawings by region will be selected by the jury, and a prize of a total value of €1,000 for each region will be awarded to the winners. The winning drawings will be included in a booklet which will be distributed in the schools of the participating countries and in the European schools that have participated in the competition.
The timeline for this competition includes:
Drawings should be sent to the European Commission Delegation from the country where they originate. The best drawings of each country will receive a delegates' choice award. These drawings will be sent to the international competition.
