CORE Polio Partners - United to Achieve a Polio-Free WorldAuthorRoma Solomon
Child Survival and Collaborations Resources Group (CORE) Publication DateJune 8, 2004
SummaryThis was presented at the June 2004 UNICEF meeting dedicated to examining communication in the context of the final push to eradicate polio. The presentation provided an overview of the role of the Child Survival and Collaborations Resources Group (CORE) private voluntary organisation (PVO) consortium in India (comprised of international NGOs such as World Vision as well as states, districts, and blocks). A social mobilisation network, comprised of UNICEF and CORE and accountable to the local state government, was formed In Uttar Pradesh (UP). UP was a focus area due to strong resistance to the OPV programme - this resistance was reduced by including add-on activities such as the installation and maintenance of hand pumps.
