Media Decision Makers Conference: Inclusive MediaStart DateJuly 17 2009End DateJuly 18 2009LocationRabat, Morocco Event summaryThe Media Diversity Institute is organising a 2-day Media Decision Makers Conference in Morocco, with the main theme being "Inclusive Media". According to the organisers, the conference will bring together leading Moroccan media owners, editors, and analysts, as well as representatives of leading Moroccan civil society organisations. It will be an opportunity for discussion on responsible journalism, the legal, ethical, and financial reasons for inclusive reporting, and the role of the media as a forum for national dialogue on those issues. Speakers will include leading Moroccan and international experts. The Media Diversity Institute (MDI) is a charitable, non-partisan organisation that works to mobilise the power of media to lessen inter-group conflict, advance human rights – especially minority rights – and support deeper public understanding of all types of social diversity. MDI focuses on regions where news media have played a destructive role in exacerbating ethnic and religious conflicts and violations of human and minority rights. MDI works with media organisations, journalists, journalism educators, organisations, and governments to prevent and reconcile conflict, promote tolerance of vulnerable groups, and stimulate balanced and non-partisan journalism.
