The Unit for Social Behavior Studies in HIV/AIDS and Health (USBAH) at the University of South Africa is offering a short course on Advocacy Project Planning on HIV and AIDS. According to the organisers, the teaching approach mode includes online, paper-based, community work, and contact sessions.

The topics that will be covered during the course are:

  • African understanding of the AIDS pandemic: challenges and trends;
  • Understanding social behaviour aspects and theories of HIV and AIDS;
  • Planning and executing an advocacy campaign on issues related to HIV and AIDS;
  • Mobilising community and stakeholder participation; and
  • Developing and implementing monitoring and evaluation of advocacy campaigns.

Registration Information

This course is meant for people who want to make a difference in the field of HIV and AIDS but do not know where to start, or who have been actively involved in advocacy on HIV and AIDS but would like to enhance their knowledge and skills on advocacy campaign planning and management. The course is being offered either as a once off workshop for three days and/or for six months as distance learning course. The cost of the course is ZAR 800.
