Description

As a US public university, Michigan State University (MSU)'s mission has been to advance knowledge and transform lives through teaching, research, and outreach for over 150 years. MSU is a member of the Association of American Universities, the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, and the Big Ten athletic conference.


The College of Communication Arts & Sciences at Michigan State University was established in 1955. Today, its student population is almost 4,000 (2009). The College combines a research-intensive faculty with a professional mission to prepare students for careers and for working with emerging technologies, and to influence the professional practice of communication globally.

Programmes

  1. Master of Arts in Health Communication - This programme, co-sponsored by the College of Communication Arts and Sciences and the College of Human Medicine, prepares students to design, implement, and evaluate health communication materials to help prevent and address health problems in society. Graduates may seek placement with local, state, national, and international organisations, including at the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

  2. Doctoral Programme in Communication - The Ph.D. programme is designed to prepare students to communicate effectively the knowledge and research findings in their major fields and to acquire a deeper understanding of communication theory and process as it relates to society. The programme is designed to prepare the candidate for work at research centres, universities, and colleges around the world. Alumni include researchers, professors, authors, entrepreneurs, and consultants worldwide.
