This online community offers resources about freedom of information laws and movements around the world. freedominfo.org describes best practices and lessons learned, compares campaign strategies, and links the efforts of freedom of information advocates globally. Communication StrategiesThis initiative centres around a web portal that aims to be the online institutional memory of freedom of information (FOI) campaigns throughout the world. It is a gathering place for members of a global network of advocates sharing an interest in citizens' right of access to government information. Information here may be accessed in various ways, such as country-specific background, documents, news, and links related to FOI in more than 65 countries. Also, one column features the comments of a Washington, DC (United States)-based journalist reporting on the latest developments in information disclosure in International Financial and Trade Institutions (IFTI). PartnersThe Open Society Institute provided initial funding. The National Security Archive at the George Washington University serves as the secretariat for the site, and as its fiscal sponsor through the National Security Archive Fund Inc.
