Onelove: Preventing HIV in South Africa

Publication Date

January 1, 2009

Summary

This 28-page booklet was published by the Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication as part of the Onelove South Africa campaign. The campaign aims to reduce new HIV infections in South Africa by focusing on multiple concurrent partnerships which are one of the key drivers of the HIV pandemic in Southern Africa.

The booklet contains information about multiple concurrent partnerships, explains why having many partners puts people at risk of HIV, and talks about other risky behaviours. The booklet also provides suggestions for people who want to do something in their community to contribute to social change, especially as part of the Onelove campaign. According to the publication, the booklet is designed to be accessible to anyone interested in learning more about HIV and multiple concurrent partnerships.

The booklet contains a section on HIV in South Africa, followed by specific HIV information related to multiple partners and risky relationships, marriage, condom use, culture, having a baby, and alcohol. It also includes information about the Onelove campaign itself, which was launched in South Africa in January 2009.
