- Master of Arts in International Relations (MA) -
Hult’s Master of Arts (MA) in International Relations trains students to evaluate and analyse global issues and trends, and to become active players in an increasingly complex world. Course rounded in contemporary events and reality Hult offers an MA in International Relations which intends to prepare students for the combination of the unknown and known lying ahead by offering a broad platform of knowledge on the international system, its key actors, and its essential dynamics. Coursework covers issues such as cross-border migration, globalisation, the widening economic poverty gap, the impact of American foreign policy, and the threat of terrorism. The MA programme explores critical perspectives on these issues, engaging students in question-driven analysis and the search for constructive global change. A flexible curriculum allows for specialisation The MA in International Relations programme is flexible, and the range of courses allows students to concentrate in selected areas while developing a broad base of knowledge across the discipline as a whole. During a 12-month period (longer for part-time study), students undertake a series of flexible course modules and write a thesis on a topic of their choice. Put knowledge to work: field studies or internship opportunities Students are given the opportunity to earn credits for directed field study work. Field studies and internships put theory into practice, allowing students to gain hands-on experience of project-related work in a global context. Previous field studies have included: a conflict resolution tour in Jordan, a global justice tour in The Hague, a security studies tour of North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Brussels, and an ecological field study in Vietnam. These experiences are designed to bridge the gap between classroom and real-world skills.. Career opportunities for MA in International Relations This MA programme intends to open opportunities in a wide range of areas which include: diplomacy, foreign relations, global civil service, public policy consulting, risk analysis, and work with non-government organisations, think tanks, or non-profit organisations. - Master of Arts in Marketing Communications -
Hult’s Master of Arts (MA) in Marketing Communications is designed to teach students how to think strategically and excel in creative industries. This field and the scope of the academic degree change as the nature of business itself changes. According to the Hult International Business School, in the 21st century, business is expanding its scope, building on the principles of a competitive, free-market system and applying those practices to new sectors. Social Entrepreneurship and Enterprise, Philanthropy, and Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability are new areas of focus. An education in marketing The MA in Marketing Communications at Hult addresses these areas of business study and practice. It trains graduates in each of the core phases of the marketing process: researching, designing, planning, testing, and evaluating a marketing strategy. What sets this MA programme apart, according to the school, however, is its focus on social, economic, and environmental concerns, and a broad vision of using marketing innovation not only for products, but also for issues; not only for private benefit, but also for social transformation. Practical education to become a “marketing director” Students in this programme take two companion courses at a time, in a six-week block; and they do this five times through the five steps of the marketing sequence: researching, designing, planning, testing, and evaluating. One course in each block teaches the core marketing skill, while the companion course provides grounded knowledge of contemporary issues, concentrating on the power of marketing innovation to make a positive impact. Depending on the research interests of the students, topics studied may include human rights, climate change, renewable energy, natural resources, human trafficking, child soldiers, economic poverty and development, gender issues, and other issues. In the ‘Testing’ phase, every student becomes a Marketing Director for their own project. They test their marketing plans by leading a team of marketing assistants comprised of other students; then they serve as assistants on the projects of others. Research an industry, field, or issue In addition to finishing the Masters with a comprehensive, professional marketing strategy on an issue of their choosing, all students are required to produce a research paper on that issue to accompany the marketing project and set it in a wider academic context. Career development All MA students participate in an intensive career development workshop. This series of workshops throughout the year introduces students to marketing professionals who coach them in planning and managing a career in Marketing Communications. These guest lecturers may then serve as mentors or industry contacts, helping Hult MA students build bridges to a career, even while working on their degree.
