Description

Founded in 1902, the Institute of Education is a graduate college of the University of London. It aims to be a centre of excellence for research, teacher training, higher degrees and consultancy in education and education-related areas of social science. Over the years they have expanded their activities and now offer courses leading to higher degrees in all areas of education and related aspects of the social sciences and professional practice. Many of these courses are offered on a part-time, and, increasingly, distance basis and are structured to suit the busy lives of people working in the education service. They also offer short courses and host conferences responsive to the professional and personal requirements of education practitioners at all levels of the education system.

Programmes

  1. Masters in Media, Culture, and Communication - This programme, conducted within the School of Culture, Language, and Communication, aims to offer opportunities to explore the intellectual field and to extend and develop skills of analysis, design and communication. This will involve considering approaches to theoretical and methodological issues and the practical application of design and communication skills.

    Examines relationship between the theoretical and the practical. This relationship may be relevant across a range of professions and disciplines and establish a balance between the theoretical and the practical that can be matched to your interests through the range of modules on offer and through particular focuses within modules.

  2. Masters in Education and International Development: Health Promotion - This degree course is intended for experienced educators and health workers with an interest in health promotion in developing countries. The course is essentially focused on the field of education and consists of a foundation module in education and international development, followed by specialist modules in health promotion in the context of development.
