Event summary

The Drama for Life programme at Wits School of Arts is hosting a 4-day workshop/festival for theatre practitioners and organisations involved in HIV education, prevention, and rehabilitation. According to the organisers, the workshop will provide a platform for participants to showcase their progress, network, share best practices, create synergies, and learn from each other’s experiences.


A range of seminars and workshops will be included as part of the programme, allowing practitioners, performers, and educators to reflect on the practice of applied drama and theatre in the following thematic areas:

  • Governance and politicisation of HIV and AIDS
  • Culture and gender
  • HIV and indigenous knowledge systems
  • The role of the facilitator/performer in the context of HIV
  • Quality of life

To register, contact Ella Bella or Levinia Jones via email or telephone at the addresses listed below. Registration fees are between ZAR50 to ZAR100 per day, or ZAR150 - ZAR350 for the whole week.
