AVINA Journalism Awards for Sustainable DevelopmentRegion

The AVINA Awards for Investigative Journalism offer US$250,000 to support journalistic investigations, reports, and/or features around issues related to sustainable development in Latin America. Awards are based on the type of media: US$6,000 for television and US$4,000 for newspapers, magazines, internet, radio, and press agencies. There are 6 categories and themes:
The AVINA Awards for Investigative Journalism are supported by the Fundación Nuevo Periodismo Iberoamericano (FNPI), Association of European Journalists (APE), Foro de Periodismo Argentino (Fopea), the Inter-American Press Society (IAPA), Asociação Brasileira de Jornalismo Investigativo (Abraji), Instituto Prensa y Sociedad (Ipys), Agência de Notícias dos Direitos da Infância (ANDI), the Communication Initiative Latin America (CILA), Alliance of Communicators for Sustainable Development (ComPlus), Reporters d’Espoirs, and the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas.
