Event summary

According to the organisers of this workshop, MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS-TCDC), by the end of the course, participants will be equipped with skills in information management and research methods for effective use in knowledge generation and dissemination to facilitate advocacy and empowerment processes.

The course content includes:

  • technical operations of an information resource centre and records management;
  • basic database management, institutional memory, and learning organisations;
  • concepts, principles, and ethics in research including approaches and methodology such as Participatory Action Research (PAR) and Rapid Problem Solving (RPS);
  • information advocacy, networking, and new media;
  • Rapid Appraisal of Actor Knowledge System (RAAKS); and
  • communication strategy development and delivery.

MS-TCDC’s training methodology is based on an experiential learning approach. Their courses are participatory and interactive in nature, and most courses include field trips, case studies, role-plays, learning games, illustrated talks, and group work.

Registration Information

The course is designed for practitioners in development organisations who have some training in information science and research and who are working in communication and research analysis.

Course fee: single room US$ 1,220; shared double US$ 1,030. The course fee includes registration, tuition, course materials, transport to and from Kilimanjaro International Airport/Arusha Town, excursions, and full boarding and lodging at MS-TCDC.
