Event Summary

 

The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC)'s fourth global Congress on communication is scheduled for Cape Town, South Africa, October 6-10, 2008. The five-day event focuses on the theme Communication is Peace: Building Viable Communities and offers professional development and networking opportunities through:

 

  • Keynote presentations by international experts in communication rights, media and gender justice, peace advocacy, and new communications technologies

  • Regional case studies on “communication for peace”

  • Daily workshop sessions exploring a myriad different communication approaches to the theme

  • Opportunities to meet communication and peace activists and to network with people and organizations from different parts of the world

  • A day-trip to Gugulethu, a local township area, and to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was jailed.

Registration for Congress 2008 is now open. We would encourage you to share information about Congress with your colleagues and with the members of your network who are concerned with human rights, peace building, and gender and violence. The modest registration fee covers hotel, room, and conference fee.

 

Registration for participants from the Global South is CAD$400 (approx. USD$390; EURO€250).

 

Participants from the Global North pay CAD$600 (USD$590; EURO€375).

 

The registration deadline is June 30 3008. Please register early though in order to ensure your choice of workshops.
