Radio La Benevolencija / Humanitarian Tools Foundation is a non-governmental, non-ethnic and non-denominational organization that endeavors to pass on the accumulated experience of victims of ethnocentric violence who have empowered themselves and reached a peace with their former tormentors. The organization is comprised of 15-20 full-time employees and a considerable number of part-time freelancers, and its annual budget amounts to approximately €500,000. Radio La Benevolencija's current Great Lakes Reconciliation Radio project is a research-based communications campaign in the Great Lakes Region to educate audiences on how to resist manipulation based on fear and unhealed wounds that promote aggression, and to achieve behavior change that supports reconciliation and trauma healing.

Currently, Radio La Benevolencija is looking for a Head of Finance & Administration who is fluent in both French and English to oversee program operations in Rwanda, Burundi, and possibly in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

 

Location: Kigali, Rwanda
Start date: Immediate or as soon as possible
Length: One-year contract with possibility of renewal

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 


The Head of Finance & Administration is responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day accounting operations, financial management functions, as well as human resource management and logistics, are performed in accordance with Radio La Benevolencija and country office policy and procedures. The selected applicant is expected to handle different accounting and financial tasks, as well as handle human resource issues. Specific responsibilities within each functional area include:

 

  • Accounting systems
  • Writing special reports for donors
  • Office training & support
  • Balance Sheet accounts
  • Procurement accounting
  • Cash/bank – processing
  • Cash forecasting
  • Cost accounting
  • Payroll
  • Internal audit
  • Budgets
  • Contracts

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Education – A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Commerce or Accounting
  • CPA/CA qualification preferred
  • Work experience – At least three years of financial management experience and two to three years spent working in an international NGO environment
  • Languages – Advanced written and verbal French and English language skills

 

SKILLS:

 

  • Advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, or Open Office
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with computerized accounting software (QuickBooks)
