Vodacom Women in The Media Awards 2008Country

Established in 2002 as an initiative of The Media magazine, the annual Vodacom Women in The Media Awards seek to recognise exceptional women who have made their mark within the media sphere across the content, commercial, and academic fields. Nominations are called for in the following categories – Vodacom Women in The Media Award, the Rising Star Award (which applauds the efforts of women under the age of 30 who are already making an impact in the media industry), and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Nominees will be judged on their exceptional contribution to growth and development of media in the past 18 months. Influential women from all media sectors, including research, business, editorial, sales, and education may enter. Click here for more information about the award. Nominations may also be sent to Fienie Grobler at fienie@themedia.co.za Previous WinnersPatricia Scholtemeyer, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Media 24 Magazines who has since been appointed CEO of M-Net, was the recipient of the Vodacom Women in The Media Award 2007. Siki Mgabadeli, the former editor of SABC Television's business and economics desk, was honoured as 2007's rising star. Veteran journalist Joyce Sikhakhane was recognised as lifetime achiever.
