The Diageo Africa Business Reporting Awards (DABRA) was created to recognise journalists and editors who provide high quality coverage of the business environment in Africa. The purpose of the Awards is to improve the quality and quantity of reporting on business in Africa to which potential investors have access.

Overall the judges will be looking for journalism that engages its audience, and provokes thought and has integrity. Entries should be able to illustrate excellence in covering economic issues and/or business developments in Africa, highlighting the opportunities as well as the challenges.

Awards are offered in the following categories:

  • best published feature;
  • best radio feature;
  • best television feature;
  • best published photograph;
  • media of the year; and
  • journalist of the year.

Application Information

To qualify for the Africa Business Reporting Awards 2009, all submissions should have been published or broadcast in the period May 1 2008 - April 14 2009 inclusive.

To enter, submit a completed entry form (people wishing to enter more than one category must complete a separate entry form for each) along with a copy of work in one of the formats specified in the guidelines. This should be sent by post to the contact below by April 15 2009.
