Unheard Voices, Hidden LivesPublication DateNovember 2006
SummaryThis book is the result of a participatory photo project which involved representatives from community-based organisations of men who have sex with men, sex workers, and people living with HIV from the International HIV/AIDS Alliance’s Frontiers Prevention Project in India, Ecuador, and Cambodia. It was assembled to present the voices and images of individuals in these groups, because they are often shrouded with silence and invisibility. According to the publisher, this invisibility makes it harder for communities affected by HIV to claim their rights, and for others to understand their experiences and needs. The individual photographers are represented by their words and photos. The intended audiences are national and international policymakers, donors, and non-governmental organisations (NGO) support programmes.
