Event summary

 

In response to previous requests for media specific seminars, the AIDS 2008 conference will offer two workshops for media delegates that will focus on building and enhancing knowledge and a fostering a deeper understanding of the various, and often complex, issues associated with HIV/AIDS. The two workshops are as follows:

 

Reporting HIV/AIDS - Issues and Concerns

 

Held on Sunday, August 3 2008, this one-day seminar for the media will provide opportunities for participants to interact with international media trainers and other experts on issues and ethics of journalism related to reporting on HIV/AIDS.

 

Technical Briefings on HIV/AIDS

 

Held on Monday, August 4 2008, this three-hour evening session specially designed for members of the press will consist of short, focussed and simplified capsules presented by experts on technical issues associated with HIV/AIDS. The session will also afford opportunities for journalists to interact with the experts. Information kits for each theme will be provided.
