World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) Video Contest

The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) announces the 1st World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) Video Contest. WABA invites entrants to create a one-minute video that shows how breastfeeding mothers can be supported and reflects the WBW theme "Mother Support: Going for the Gold". The video can have sound and music and be in any language (with an accompanying English translation). Five winning videos will be awarded US$200 each.


Videos will be reviewed by a WABA panel of judges and displayed on the WBW website and may be uploaded on YouTube and shared with the breastfeeding community worldwide.


The objectives of WBW 2008 are:


  • To expand awareness of the need for and value of providing support to a breastfeeding mother;
  • To disseminate updated information about support for breastfeeding mothers; and
  • To encourage the creation of optimal conditions for the provision of mother support in all circles of support.




The deadline for application is April 30 2008.

Application Information

To read about the criteria and how to submit a video (available in English, Spanish, and Chinese), click here.

  • All videos should be free of copyrighted materials.
  • Each video should be submitted together with a completed contest entry form.
  • Videos may be submitted as compressed mpeg, avi or mov files.
  • Files under 4 mb may be submitted via email to: worldbreastfeedingweek2008@gmail.com
  • If over 4mb they may be uploaded to the server – contact worldbreastfeedingweek2008@gmail.com for server information.
  • A CD/DVD of the video may be sent via regular mail to Julianna Lim Abdullah at her contact address below.
