  • health - finding ways to reduce malnutrition, TB, malaria, dengue, and sexually transmissible infections such as HIV/AIDS, and unwanted pregnancy; and
  • development - finding means to meet economic needs with least harm to the planet and advancing technological innovations for the betterment of the planet.

According to the website, "One Second Before Sunrise" has been broadcast and viewed on videos in more than a hundred countries in as many as fifteen languages. The programmes are for viewers of all ages. Horizon International’s programmes are made available here to view and to download for personal or organisational viewing as a public service.

This site is one of several Horizon International Web pages. The Horizon Solutions Site (see the related summary below), a collaborative programme with the United Nations Environment Programme, the United Nations Development Programme, the United Nations Population Fund, the United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF), Horizon's colleagues at Harvard University and Yale University, and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) of Canada, presents answers to problems in environment, health, population and development, in peer-reviewed case studies, articles, and exhibits.

The Horizon Solutions Site for Kids of All Ages (see the related summary below) is an interactive, multimedia feature of the Solutions Site. Many of the entries on the Solutions Site are rewritten for the younger audience. In addition, Horizon is working to promote protection of coral reefs through the Magic Porthole project, a coral reef project that provides multimedia and multifaceted experiences, while providing education about the coral reef, its inhabitants, and the water environment.
