Location: Coady International Institute, St. Francis Xavier University Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada

Program fee: CAD$13,800 for tuition, room and board. Full and partial bursaries (financial support) ranging are available to qualifying candidates. Special bursaries available to enable women and Indigenous peoples to attend.

 

 

Programme Description

 


Attracting development leaders from around the world, this unique programme allows participants to:

 

  • enhance their capacities to be effective leaders;
  • strengthen ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate community-driven development initiatives;
  • enhance practical skills in a broad range of participatory methodologies and tools for community capacity building;
  • strengthen ability to manage development organisations, programmes and projects in a sustainable and participatory manner;
  • enhance knowledge of innovative practices, contemporary issues and trends in development at the micro, meso and macro levels;
  • explore conceptual linkages between participation, good governance and social change
  • provide space for personal reflection on the underlying values and philosophies of development and transformative leadership;
  • develop the capacity to act collectively through knowledge sharing, networking, and multi-stakeholder processes to achieve greater impact at national and global levels;

 

 

The Diploma in Development Leadership provides a framework for just and sustainable development based on a participatory, practical, holistic approach. Its overall purpose is to strengthen the capacity of development leaders to effectively motivate and support people in the development of their own communities and societies.
