The two themes for the conference are Chornobyl and Youth Action. The conference is co-sponsored by the Government of Ukraine. In 1987, inspired by the Chornobyl nuclear tragedy, WIT was formed in recognition of the pressing need to provide accurate, actionable information about our deteriorating global environment and its effect on human health to opinion leaders and concerned citizens around the world. April 23 Keynote Speaker: Minister of Emergencies of Ukraine, H. E. Mr. Yuri A. Sergeyev, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Mr. Werner Obermeyer, World Health Organization Film: “Radiophobia,” director, Julio Soto, Spain Luncheon (By Invitation) Speaker: Timothy Searchinger, Visiting Research Scholar Woodrow Wilson School, Princeton University 3-6 PM – Youth Action for Health and Environment Keynote Speaker: Prof. Nicholas Negroponte, Chairman Emeritus, MIT Media Laboratory Dr. Ivan D.
