The profile of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) has increased together with the need for them to assess the long-term impact of their work. In three fruitful days you explore the current state of the debate about impact assessment and review current practice and methodologies.

 

Course Objectives

  • Understand what is meant by impact assessment and how the concept has emerged
  • Reflect on the importance of perceptions: who defines what impact is?
  • Explore different approaches and alternative methodologies in conducting impact assessment
  • Identify ways of getting a representative picture: the use of case studies; sampling methods; triangulation between quantitative and qualitative data
