Event Summary

According to the MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation, measuring progress, results and impact has been a challenge to many development workers. This is due to lack of effective skills in use of methods for monitoring and evaluation. In response to these limitations, appropriate tools are being sought to enable development workers to make informed decisions about development interventions. This course aims to equip development workers in non government organisations (NGOs) and other organisations with skills, knowledge and the necessary attitudes for effective results-based monitoring and evaluation of development programmes.

The objectives of this course are to enable participants to set up Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems in their own organisations for various types of projects and programmes

The course content will consist of the following:

  • Concepts and objectives of M&E
  • Participation in M&E
  • Integrating M&E into the planning cycle including Logical Framework Approach
  • Designing a M&E System
  • Designing and conducting an evaluation, including data collection
  • Methods and tools for analysing qualitative and quantitative data
  • Interpreting information: Assessing and judging results
  • Writing and presenting evaluation reports
  • Using results including for specific advocacy purposes

The course in intended for senior and middle level development workers, working with NGOs and governmental sectors.
